Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (Lead Internal Verifier) qualification was introduced when the old V1 internal verifier course was replaced in 2010. This course will enable you to become a qualified NVQ Internal Verifier or Moderator. The qualification also acknowledges you are a qualified lead Verifier, leading a team, which can be other verifiers, assessors and other practitioners.The course enables you to moderate any courses you are occupationally competent.

Vocational Learning encourages candidates to submit naturally occurring evidence from their work environment to demonstrate competency against the practical requirements of the course. We welcome other evidence such as prior learning and do not just rely on assignments. Candidates who have already achieved the Level 4 Award in the internal quality assurance of assessment processes and practice, V1 or D34 can upgrade their qualification to be recognised as a Lead Internal Moderator at a discount.

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice has an 115 hours guided learning requirement. You are usually expected to complete this course within three to fifteen weeks depending on the mode of enrolment you choose.

Course Delivery and Support

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice course is delivered by either distance, blended learning or as classroom based. You are expected to meet course requirements regardless of the method of delivery.

Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice Upgrade Course

. This is a course for those you have already achieved the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. You will need to fully participate in online activities and provide multimedia evidence whenever possible.You will be expected to complete the course between 2 to 10 weeks. Candidates who are committed and work hard can study the course fast track and complete within a few weeks.

The full cost of the course is £225. You can also pay using a payment plan by making a deposit of £127.50 and one monthly instalment of £127.50.

Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice Course

You will need to fully participate in online activities and provide multimedia evidence whenever possible.You will be expected to complete the course between 2 to 10 weeks. Candidates who are committed and work hard can study the course fast track and complete within a few weeks.

The full cost of the course is £485. You can also pay using a payment plan by making a deposit of £136.25 and three monthly instalments. Each instalment will be £136.25.

On enrolment every candidate will be allocated an assessor who will also be their tutor and the first port of call for all assessments and learning needs. You will have access to resources, coursework, tutorials, events, forums, web conferences, and face-to-face sessions. We regularly host support sessions during the day, night and weekends.

You will be expected to participate in an induction session to fully understand how to use our learning management system (Access), locate resources and your coursework. This induction can either be face-to-face or online. You will need to have a discussion with your assessor to negotiate and agree your learning and assessment plan. You are expected here to discuss about any needs, targets, practical requirements (if applicable) and declare any prior learning you wish to be considered. Your assessor will draft your “Holistic Assessment Plan” which will reflect your needs. The plan will also contain information about assessments, ground rules and expected course end date.

Course Structure

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and practice is made up of the following three units:

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
Unit 2: Internally assure the quality of assessment
Unit 3: Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility

Assessment of the IQA Qualification

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice course is assessed by a portfolio of evidence which you have to compile. We always take a holistic approach with your assessments. You are normally expected to complete 5 Scenarios and 4 questions to address the theory part of the course.

You will need to support at least two assessors and carry some quality assurance duties. There should be evidence of sampling evidence, giving feedback, standardisation and promoting professional development. For the third unit, you need to demonstrate how you have led a team and worked in line with a work plan. You need to evidence the planning, implementation, review and completion of the work plan.

Entry Requirements for this IQA Qualification

This course is open to anyone who has quality assurance duties within a learning and development environment. You will be expected to have access to at least two assessors and be a team leader. You will be expected to have basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills in line with national occupational skills for Learning and development practitioners.

Vocational Learning might be able to provide you with a placement depending on your skills, availability and positive attitude when it comes to supporting learners. You will need to apply for placement by completing the form found here. An interview might be required.

You are also expected to have access to the internet, multimedia computer, printer and a word processor that can open and produce Microsoft Word Documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’. Candidates without Microsoft office are advised to consider free software such as Open Office. You, however, need to ensure your documents are saved and submitted for assessment as word documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’?

What can l do after completion?

The qualification can be used in its entirety as you become a qualified NVQ Internal Verifier/Moderator. You can go on to complete any other learning and development courses.
