The role of advice and guidance is not to just discuss about careers but about general welfare issues. Practioners assist with all sorts of issues such as counselling, mental health and financial advice. They will signpost or refer to other specialist services depending on your needs. At the heart of advice and guidance is the need to understand the needs of your clients and create a conducive empowering supportive environment. You will also be expected to maintain confidentiality, patience, respect, interpersonal skills, quality assurance, reflective practice and professional development.

Vocational Learning delivers both the Level 3 and 4 in advice and guidance.

The qualification is suitable for career advisors and those supporting the personal development of employees.

The Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Advice and Guidance provides candidates with the skills, knowledge and understanding to work in advice and guidance. The mandatory units cover interacting with clients, legislation and procedures, operating within networks, managing their personal case load and evaluate and developing their own contribution to the service.

The Level 4 Award in Learning and Development award provides an introduction which is extended and consolidated in the certificate. The qualifications provide an opportunity for learners' competence to be confirmed.

This Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development aims to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills as required to work in learning and development.
