Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development Qualification

This Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development aims to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills as required to work in learning and development. This course has a number of optional units which feed into other qualifications such as the award in education and training, assessor and internal quality assurance.

The optional units we have selected below will enable you to also qualify as an NVQ Assessor(CAVA) and Internal Quality Moderator (IQA).

Vocational Learning encourages candidates to submit naturally occurring evidence from their work environment to demonstrate competency against the practical requirements of the course. We welcome other evidence such as prior learning and do not just rely on assignments. This can include schemes of work, assessment reports, course resources and communication records. You are usually expected to complete this course within 10 to 20 weeks depending on the combination of units you have selected.

Course Delivery and Support

The Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development course is delivered by either distance, blended learning or as classroom based. You are expected to meet course requirements regardless of the method of delivery.

Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development Course

. You will need to fully participate in online activities and provide multimedia evidence whenever possible.You will be expected to complete the course between 10 to 20 weeks. Candidates who are committed and work hard can study the course fast track and complete within a few weeks.

The full cost of the course is £750. You can also pay using a payment plan by making a deposit of £165 and four monthly instalments. Each instalment will be £165.

On enrolment every candidate will be allocated an assessor who will also be their tutor and the first port of call for all assessments and learning needs. You will have access to resources, coursework, tutorials, events, forums, web conferences, and face-to-face sessions. We regularly host support sessions during the day, night and weekends.

You will be expected to participate in an induction session to fully understand how to use our learning management system (Access), locate resources and your coursework. This induction can either be face-to-face or online. You will need to have a discussion with your assessor to negotiate and agree your learning and assessment plan. You are expected here to discuss about any needs, targets, practical requirements (if applicable) and declare any prior learning you wish to be considered. Your assessor will draft your “Holistic Assessment Plan” which will reflect your needs. The plan will also contain information about assessments, ground rules and expected course end date.

Course Structure

Candidates must meet a minimum 45 credits to be awarded the Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development qualification by completing the following units:

Unit 1: Principles, theories and practices of learning and development
Unit 2: Reflect on and improve own practice in learning and development
Unit 3: Assess occupational competence in the work environment
Unit 4: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Unit 5: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
Unit 6: Internally assure the quality of assessment
Unit 7: Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
Unit 8: Engage learners in the learning and development process

You are free to choose your own optional units instead of the units listed above.

Assessment

The Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development is assessed by a portfolio of evidence which you have to compile and submit at the end of the course. The assessment process will involve a range of methods such as prior learning, assignments, reflective accounts, witness statements, questioning observations of practice and work products.

Entry Requirements for this Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development Course

The Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development course is open to anyone working in learning and development. You will be expected to have basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills. You will be expected to have access to at least two candidates to succefully achieve the assessor units. You will also be expected to demonstrate how you have carried out quality assurance duties and supported at least two members of staff in order to achieve the verifier units.

You are required to have access to the internet, computer and a word processor that can open and produce Microsoft Word Documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’. Candidates without Microsoft office are advised to consider free software such as Open Office. You, however, need to ensure your documents are saved and submitted for assessment as word documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’?

What can l do after completion?

The qualification can be used in its entirety if you are a tutor or trainer. You can go on to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or any other higher education course.
