You will be assessed at the same level as someone completing the second year of an undergraduate degree. Achievement at Level 5 reflects the ability to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to complete tasks and address problems that, while well defined, have a measure of complexity. It includes taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks and procedures as well as exercising autonomy and judgment. You will be expected to use references and reflect awareness of different perspectives or approaches within your area of study or work.

What can l do after completion

The qualification can be used in its entirety if you are a tutor or trainer delivering numeracy courses. You can go on to complete other teacher training courses such as the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.

How long is the course?

We are often asked how quick someone can complete this course? This depends on a number of factors which includes your own commitment, quality of evidence, time, assessment opportunities and the ability to study at a higher level. It will also help if you have evidence of recent prior learning (That fully address the assessment criteria) and have access to resources and opportunities that will enable your learning. that will enable you to actively participate in course activities.

Candidates joining the course with evidence of prior learning and credits will obviously be able to complete quicker than someone without. If you invest more time on the course such as 15 hours a week then you will most likely complete earlier compared to someone who commits only 2 hours for the same period. By the end of the course you will be expected to demonstrate how you have met the recommended guided learning hours and total qualification time. This will involve submitting evidence showing reasonable participation in activities hosted by Vocational Learning. We however expect you to complete the course within 3 to 9 months.

Certification

Your certificate will come from an Ofqual regulated awarding body. We currently use TQUK, ITC First and ICQ for certification. Once your portfolio of evidence has been successfully signed off by both the internal and external moderator your certificate will be requested from the awarding body. Certificates are normally processed within 14 working days. Once we receive your certificate it will be forwarded to you by first class recorded delivery.
