What is an Awarding Body?

An awarding body is an organisation that is regulated by Ofqual to develop, design and certify qualifications. They are charged with implementing the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and quality assurance of qualifications.

They employ external moderators who regularly visit educational providers to ensure qualifications are being delivered to a required and expected standard. Examples of awarding bodies are Edexcel, City and Guilds, TQUK, ITC first,Qualsafe, OCN, Icanqualify, NCFE, Future Awards and OCR.

Qualifications from awarding bodies are generally regarded as equivalent regardless of who has certified. the content, assessment criteria and learning outcomes of all similar qualifications with the same title are virtually equivalent.

All the qualifications delivered by Vocational Learning are regulated and certified by an awarding body. We have carefully selected the awarding bodies we work with due to their flexibility, pricing, and positive customer services.
